As a student of ME 486 (Senior Design for Mechanical Engineers), they are tasked to design an aircraft and the necessary deliverables to accomplish the mission set by the SAE Aero Design Competition. This two-semester project starts on the Fall semester and ends in the Spring semester of the following year.
While students are tasked to design a plane that can perform specific tasks and missions, they get a better understanding on what its like to work in a team revolved around aerospace. Students of the Aero Senior Design team receive job opportunities as aerospace companies are interested in hiring engineers from the team.
